Google has some exciting new features coming for Bard

Google unveiled Gemini fairly recently, but that doesn’t mean that the company has forgotten about its good old buddy Bard. In fact, Bard is one of the ways that you can access Gemini. According to a new leak, Google could be working on six new features for Bard.

In case you don’t know, Bard is Google’s AI-powered chatbot. Google designed it to go up against chatbots like ChatGPT. It’s a really powerful tool, and you can freely use it. We have a piece explaining everything you need to know about Bard, so you should check it out if you have any questions.

Google could be working on six new features for Bard

This leak comes to us from leaker Dylan Roussel via a thread on X. In it, we get an overview of features that the company is working on for its chatbot. Since we’re dealing with leaked information, you’ll want to take it with a grain of salt. There’s no telling whether Google will launch these features or cancel the.

The first feature is called Mokoto. This feature is barebones at the moment, and there’s not much information about it. According to the post, this is a feature that may let people “create bots”. We have no idea what that means at the moment.

However, and this is just speculation, it might be similar to the Custom Instructions feature that ChatGPT has. So, maybe it could let Bard create bots specifically tailored to different tasks.

The second feature is called Bard Advanced. This is the rumored augmented version of Bard that’s powered by Gemini Ultra. It’ may also cost money after a three-month free trial. It will be more powerful than the version currently on the market.

Third, we have the Gallery. This could be a page showing you example prompts that you can try out. It almost sounds like it’ll be a media gallery, but that won’t be the case.

Fourth, we haves called Tasks. If Mokoto is barebones, the Tasks are just bone marrow. There’s really nothing that we know about this feature. Roussel says that it might manage long-running tasks like generating an image. We’ll need to wait for more information about this feature to know how it will impact the Bard experience.

Fifth, we have Sharing backgrounds/foregrounds. You’re able to share a public Bard link with other people so they can join in on your conversation. Well, it looks like you’ll be able to add a picture to your link. When people see the link, they’ll also see the foreground or background that you chose.

Lastly, the sixth feature is Power Up. We’re not 100% sure what this will do, but it might be a tool to improve your actual prompts. Bard may run the prompt itself through an AI to improve it. It’s hard to tell how this will help, but it’ll still be exciting to see it in action.

When to expect these features

At this point, we have no idea when to expect these features to hit the public. We also don’t know if all of these features will actually make it to the public. Since they’re in such an early developmental stage, we shouldn’t expect them any time soon.

Here’s one guess: since this is a group of six rather major features, there’s a chance that Google will make an event out of them. If so, then it’s possible that Google will officially unveil these features during Google I/O 2024. In any case, it’s exciting to see what the company will do.
