It appears that the Google Photos app could soon get a major update with a new “video presets” feature. The new feature will let users quickly edit their videos with just a few taps on the screen. The tech publication Android Authority discovered the new video preset functionality in the latest version of the Google Photos app for Android.

Notably, the same feature previously appeared as “Spotlights” in an earlier version of the app a couple of weeks ago.

Google Photos might soon offer presets to make video editing easier

The upcoming one-tap video editing presets feature was spotted in version 6.97 of the Google Photos app. The upcoming functionality is said to allow users to edit their videos and add effects easily with just a few taps. The source found four video presets in the latest Google Photos app version for Android. These will allow you to make specific edits to either an entire video or a specific part of it.

The upcoming video presets include “Basic Cut”, “Slow Mo”, “Zoom”, and “Track”. The “Basic Cut” preset will allow trimming to the key moment in a video and enhance colors. The “Slow Mo” video preset will let you add a slow-motion effect to a certain part of a video. The “Zoom” tool allows zooming in and out of a video in a selected area. Lastly, the “Track” video editing tool will automatically track and zoom in on the subject of the video.

An upcoming update will enable the new useful video editing tools

It’s worth mentioning that the video preset features are not available for everyone in the Google Photos app yet. The source found the upcoming video editing tools hidden in the newer version. Google is expected to roll out a new update to the app in the coming that will enable new useful video preset features.

Once enabled, you will find the presets by navigating to the desired video. And then tap Edit > Presets, which will sit between the “Video” and “Crop” options. You will be able to enable the duration of a video preset using a slider tool. We will bring you more information once Google officially launches the new feature, so stay tuned.
