Google is now allowing the Gemini app to create and edit calendar events, tasks, and notes on more devices. The search giant is now rolling out Gemini extensions for Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks to select Google Workspace subscribers.

Gemini app expanding via Google Workspace extensions

Google launched Google Workspace extensions for Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs in open beta for the Gemini app earlier this year. Moving forward, Google Calendar, Google Keep and Google Tasks will be available as Workspace extensions in the Gemini app.

Google has been testing Gemini extensions for Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks. The search giant launched these extensions for the Gemini app in May at the Google I/O event.

Until recently, Google restricted these extensions to the recently launched Pixel 9 smartphones. The company has removed this limitation. In other words, it is reportedly making the Gemini extensions in the Gemini app available on more devices.

The Google Workspace extension also includes Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive extensions. However, these extensions are still in the beta testing phase, and available in the open beta testing program.

How to create and edit calendar events, tasks, and notes using the Gemini app?

It is important to note that Google is still restricting the use of Workspace and Gemini extensions. Specifically speaking, Workspace extensions in the Gemini app will be available to Google Workspace subscribers with the Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, and Gemini Education Premium add-ons.

Google Workspace subscribers with any one of the aforementioned add-ons can enable the Gemini extensions for Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks. These extensions can be accessed by tapping on the profile picture within the Gemini app and selecting Extensions.

Once users enable the Google Workspace option, the Gemini app will prompt them to connect their Google Workspace account with the app to enable the extensions. Besides the Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks extensions, users also gain access to the Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive extensions in the Google Workspace option within the Gemini app.

The Gemini extension for Calendar will allow users to create events in Google Calendar. Users can find events on specific dates or based on event details, and edit or cancel events.

Similarly, the Google Tasks extension allows adding reminders and tasks. Users can quickly see their lists of tasks and update them using the Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) chatbot. The Gemini extension for Google Keep allows creating notes and lists, add/edit to existing lists. The chatbot can also find content from notes and lists. It can reference notes and lists in conversations.
