AH Real Deal: Samsung Odyssey G5 tumbles to $230 for Black Friday

Samsung Odyssey G5 Deal

Right now Walmart has one of the best deals we’ve seen on gaming monitors in a while with this massive discount on the Samsung Odyssey G5, making this a deal you don’t want to pass up. This is an ultrawide gaming monitor with a 34-inch panel size, WQHD resolution, and a 165Hz refresh rate.

This monitor normally retails for $549.99 at its full price, but Walmart is slashing that price and bringing it down to $229 for an early Black Friday deal. This is a mega discount and the lowest we’ve ever seen it since the monitor’s release. It’s also the all-time low price, beating Amazon’s all-time low of $280.

There are lots of great gaming monitors out there these days but when it comes to finding one in this price range, it’s rare that you’ll get one as good as the Odyssey G5 34-inch. This was my main monitor for more than a year and a half and it was excellent for PC gaming thanks to the ultrawide aspect ratio and the 1000R curve. While it is a bit more limited in the number of ports, you have enough to plug in a PC through DisplayPort and a console through HDMI.

The monitor also supports AMD FreeSync Premium and it has a 1ms response time. Both the power button and the menu button are on the underside of the monitor’s frame and easily accessible. The menu button is also a joystick-style button so navigating the menu is really convenient compared to some monitors which have multiple buttons for this.

Nearly everything about this monitor is great and if you want a really good gaming monitor for cheap, this is it. I would, however, recommend mounting this monitor instead of using the included stand, as it can wobble fairly easily even just by typing too hard on your keyboard.
