Over the past few weeks, multiple tipsters and insiders have claimed that the Galaxy S25 lineup will be exclusively powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip worldwide. This is great news for fans of the brand, as all of them could receive phones with the same raw power. Now, another reliable source backs up the claims of Snapdragon hardware across the whole Galaxy S25 series.
Samsung Foundry’s current plight is already well known. The company’s factories have been struggling with low yield rates on its 3nm GAA wafers. While Samsung claims to have already normalized the situation, it was unable to do so in time. Mass production of the Exynos 2500 chip was already unfeasible for the January launch of the Galaxy S25 series. Therefore, Samsung has been forced to turn to Qualcomm and its powerful—but expensive—Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Another source backs the leak of Galaxy S25 series with Snapdragon chips worldwide
The latest report claiming that the entire Galaxy S25 series will be powered by Snapdragon hardware comes from ETNews. Samsung’s initial intentions were to implement the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus in most regions. On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Ultra was already going to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite worldwide. The company has followed this strategy in recent years for its “Galaxy Ultra” mobile devices.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is a powerful chip that can match—or surpass—the latest Apple A18 Pro. Recent benchmarks revealed that Qualcomm’s SoC significantly outperforms Apple’s in multicore performance. The firm even implemented its new custom Oryon cores originally developed for laptop hardware.
Meanwhile, although the Exynos 2500 was designed as a worthy rival, its performance was in doubt. In fact, recent benchmarks showed some rather disappointing scores. However, since the test was done on a prototype unit, it is possible that the final product will offer much better performance. We will not know that until 2025, when Samsung will implement its chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and rumored Galaxy Z Flip FE.
