It’s 2025, and you know what that means—MWC is upon us once again. We expect that we’ll be getting a ton of new mobile announcements at the event, and seeing as how AI has been rising in popularity over the past few years, don’t be surprised if we get a ton of AI-related announcements as well. In fact, Motorola is kicking us off with an update to its Smart Connect platform, where it’s getting new AI features.

AI is definitely a major focus at MWC 2025 this year. So, it’s really no surprise that Smart Connect is being updated with new AI tools. According to Motorola, this includes smarter cross-device management and AI-powered search.

For instance, with a quick voice via Moto AI or text command, users can cast their phone’s content to a TV or extend it to a PC or tablet. This makes it much easier for users who are on the go and need to make last-minute presentation rehearsals. It’s also perfect for those who need to put together multi-screen workflows.

There’s also a new AI Search tool that makes it effortless when it comes to retrieving files. Instead of digging through folders, users can simply ask Smart Connect to “grab my restaurant receipts,” and the system will be able to fetch the relevant documents stored on a compatible device.

Motorola is also introducing a revamped dashboard that further streamlines device management. It will display connected gadgets like the Moto Tag, Moto Buds, and PCs in a single view. The latest update also introduces third-party integration, extending Smart Connect’s functionality to more Android users.

What is Motorola Smart Connect

If you’re not familiar with Motorola Smart Connect, this software was launched in 2024. While companies like Apple have AirPlay and integration between their iOS and macOS devices, Android handset makers don’t have that luxury. In some cases, such as Motorola, they have created their own take, which comes in the form of Smart Connect.

This allows users to control their smartphone, tablet, or PC using a single keyboard and mouse. They can also watch a video on their smartphone or tablet and continue on their PC. Best of all, sharing files between smartphones and PCs becomes a piece of cake. Users will no longer have to plug their devices into their PCs to transfer files. They can also use their smartphones as webcams; their cameras are better than most PC webcams these days.

Of course, the caveat here is that you need to own a Motorola device for this to work. It’s not surprising. Apple’s tight integration also requires users to own multiple Apple products, so this isn’t really that different.

According to Motorola, the latest version of Smart Connect will be available in the coming weeks. Users need to own a Windows 10 or later PC, and they can find the app on the Microsoft Store. On their phones or tablets, Smart Connect is available via Google Play.
