Samsung Unleashes One UI 8.5 Beta for Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Flip 7

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Review AM AH 17

One UI 8.5 made its official debut with the Galaxy S26 series last month. Meanwhile, the company’s last year’s flagships, the Galaxy S25 series, are still on beta build, with a stable expected to roll out shortly. In the midst of this, Samsung has silently opened the One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, but in select regions.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 gets One UI 8.5 beta

The One UI 8.5 beta for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is now rolling out in South Korea and India, as spotted by tipster Tarun Vats. It isn’t clear if this will expand to more regions. This comes after the company reportedly created the beta sections for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (review) and Z Flip 7 on its Community forum earlier this week. The beta version has the build number ZZC5. The first beta update weighs 4.4GB in size and has the February Android security patch.

Since this is a beta build, it may not be suitable for daily use. You may run into bugs and app crashes. Users must back up important data before the update. Once the beta testing is completed, the stable version will be released, but that may take some time.

Now live in South Korea and India

One UI 8.5 brings new customization features, productivity-focused improvements, and much more. There’s the new Photo Assist, which offers continuous image generation without saving each iteration every time. It introduces revamped Bixby, which can now understand natural language for device controls and offers real-time web search powered by Perplexity.

It introduces a new Storage Share utility feature, which allows accessing files across Samsung devices, like phones, tablets, and TVs, through the My Files app. For those into customization, they can now fully personalize the Quick Settings panel. Samsung is also refining its Galaxy AI features. The biggest addition is Now Nudge, which offers context-aware suggestions based on your screen content.

For accessibility, the search bar in many Samsung apps has been moved to the bottom of the screen. This offers easier access for one-handed use. The Now Bar feature gets some improvements. Native Samsung apps, like Clock and Voice Recorder, are getting a major visual overhaul. There are now three new styles for the clock on the lock screen.
