With OnePlus soon to release its first foldable phone, we’re all wondering what other foldable devices the company is planning on making. Well, according to the company’s CEO, we shouldn’t expect a flip phone from OnePlus anytime soon.
Right now, we’re following rumors about the OnePlus Open, and it looks like it’s going to be a powerful phone. It’s a notebook foldable, and it’s going to share a ton of DNA with the Oppo Find N3. This phone is going to officially launch later this month.
Don’t expect a flip phone from OnePlus anytime soon
Since OnePlus took the plunge and developed its own foldable phone. The OnePlus Open will no doubt be one of the most exciting phones on the market. During an interview between OnePlus CEO Pete Lau and Lew from Unbox Therapy, Lau told us about the company’s plans.
Lau basically said that the target demographic for the OnePlus Open includes “business elites and technology elites. They are people who work in finance. They are engineers, doctors, etc.” This target audience is the same audience that’s buying the company’s slab phones.
However, he said that the demographic of people who use flip phones is pretty different from the aforementioned market. This is why the company is not looking to make one. It’s also because the company doesn’t want to do too much. This is OnePlus’ first foldable phone. Since it’s a notebook foldable, it most likely cost the company a fair amount to build. Keeping things to one foldable might be the right course of action.
