Tecno, one of the fastest-growing brands in recent years, is working on the launch of an upcoming smartphone that aims to bridge the gap between design and performance in the budget segment. We’re talking about the Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G, which we now have a first look at thanks to a leaked image. Furthermore, the hinted tech specs position it as one of the most affordable releases of 2026. As a teaser, the device will boast a massive 8,000mAh battery as one of its key selling points.
Tecno Pova Curve 2 5G leaked render shows unique geometric design
The Xpertpick leak shows that the most outstanding aspect of the phone at first is its aesthetics. The brand is not following the minimalist trends seen in many modern handsets. Instead, Tecno’s Pova Curve 2 5G leans into a geometric, industrial look. The rear panel features a distinctive triangular camera housing and a matching black insert at the bottom-right corner. Small accents, such as a tiny orange triangle near the branding, give the device a gaming-inspired personality.
On the front, the phone boasts a large 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display. This is a notable step up from the standard flat screens usually found at this price point. The panel has a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. For the average user, this translates to sharper images and more fluid animations when navigating or scrolling.
8,000mAh power
The standout specification is the battery. Until recently, most manufacturers have settled on 5,000mAh as the standard for a “large” battery. However, Tecno is significantly raising the bar with an 8,000mAh unit. Managing such a large capacity cell in a handheld device is a technical challenge, but it offers a clear benefit for those who don’t want to carry a charger everywhere. There’s also support for 45W wired fast charging that seems pretty decent for its segment.
Other key specs
The Pova Curve 2 5G is expected to be one of the first devices to run on the Dimensity 7100. MediaTek is still pending to announce this chipset officially. Depending on the version, the phone will offer between 8GB and 12GB of RAM. Users will be able to purchase it with up to 256GB storage. Software-wise, the handset will ship with Android 16 out of the box.
In terms of photography, the setup is relatively simple. It features a 50-megapixel main rear camera and a 13-megapixel front camera. Interestingly, Tecno has kept several “legacy” features that many users still find useful. The list includes an infrared (IR) blaster for controlling appliances. An optical in-screen fingerprint sensor will be in charge of biometric security. The device also carries an IP64 rating, providing a basic level of protection against dust and water splashes.
A sub-$250 phone
The official pricing remains under wraps. However, the previous generation’s launch and the key specs hinted at by the leak suggest that the Pova Curve 2 5G will target the sub-$250 market. Let’s hope to get more news about the phone soon.
