The iPhone Air, which was perhaps one of Apple’s most-hyped product of 2025, fell flat on its face. Despite the impressive thinness, the poor battery life, the single camera setup, and the hefty price tag made it hard to justify. On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone 16e, which many questioned the need for, turned out to be a resounding success. Now, we’ll see if Apple can recreate that magic with the iPhone 17e, which is currently tipped for launch this month with some key upgrades.
iPhone 17e coming this month with key upgrades
In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed that the successor to the iPhone 16e could launch “imminently.” Gurman did not mention a specific date, but last we heard, the latest rumors pointed at a February 19 launch.
Now, if you skipped the iPhone 16e, then perhaps the iPhone 17e and its key upgrades could make it worth checking out. For starters, Gurman claims Apple will use the A19 for the iPhone 17e. This is the same chipset used in Apple’s current iPhone 17 flagship. It is also rumored to support MagSafe charging and take advantage of new in-house cellular and wireless chips.
The best part is that Apple will keep the same price tag as its predecessor. This means that for $599, you’ll be getting a pretty decent phone. Yes, we know that there are a ton of cheaper Android phones. However, if your heart is set on an iPhone, then $599 is honestly great value for money.
Best value iPhone for 2026
That being said, we honestly think that the iPhone 17e is going to be the best value for money iPhone you can get in 2026. Apple is expected to follow up later in the year with the iPhone 18 series. However, the company is rumored to skip the base model this year. Instead, we will only see the Pro and Pro Max models and the rumored iPhone Fold.
Those phones are going to cost a small fortune. It doesn’t help the fact that memory prices are increasing. We have heard rumors that Apple could hike up the prices of its flagship phones. Apple’s flagship models were never cheap to begin with, so we’d hate to think how much more they could cost now.
