If you own a 2023 Samsung Smart TV, you might notice something familiar the next time you turn it on. Samsung is currently widely rolling out the Tizen 9 update, now officially rebranded as One UI Tizen. This firmware makes your television look and feel just like your Galaxy smartphone.
The update introduces a complete visual overhaul. Everything from the fonts and icons to the settings menus and pop-ups has been redesigned to match the One UI aesthetic we’ve seen on mobile devices for years. That said, as many users are discovering, translating a phone interface to a living room screen comes with its own set of challenges.
One UI Tizen update for Samsung TVs brings a “shrinking” problem, but there is a fix
While the new design is undeniably clean, it has introduced a literal small problem. As SamMobile reports, almost every UI element has shrunk. On a massive 75-inch screen, this might not be an issue, but if you have a more modest-sized TV or sit further back on your sofa, reading the menus can become a genuine struggle.
It seems the default scaling is a bit too ambitious for a “ten-foot” viewing experience. Fortunately, Samsung seemed to anticipate that some of us aren’t exactly eagle-eyed. If you find yourself squinting at your new menus, there is a built-in fix. Basically, you need to go to Settings > Accessibility and enable the “Zoom Menu and Text” option to enlarge the interface elements. It’s a bit of a “one-size-fits-all” solution without much fine-tuning, but it effectively restores readability.
How to get the update
The rollout for 2023 models is spreading globally, though it hasn’t been the most consistent journey. Even neighbors with identical TV models have reported seeing the update days apart. If you want to check manually, you can navigate to Settings > All Settings > Support > Software Update.
If you don’t see it yet, don’t worry—it’s a gradual release. Interestingly, this update serves as a bridge to what’s coming next. Samsung’s newer 2026 models are already shipping with an even more advanced version of this software. It now integrates “agentic AI” features by default, for instance.
