Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide: Leaked Case Images Reconfirms Shorter, Wider Design

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs Fold 8 Wide AH 2

Samsung usually keeps its foldable lineup to two main models, but this year it seems to be different. The company plans to bring to the table a “wide-screen” model alongside the ones we already know. We exclusively shared a set of CAD renders showing what the device will look like. Now, some leaked protective cases offer an early look at what we can expect from the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide in images.

The leak comes from tipster Ice Universe, who spotted the cases listed on Alibaba. It offers a glimpse of a device that will focus on providing a wider, more traditional aspect ratio.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will bring a wider design perspective: Leaked cases

The “Wide” name isn’t just for show. Based on previous leaks and on these early case designs, the phone appears to have a shorter overall height but a significantly wider frame than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. This change likely results in a 4:3 aspect ratio for the internal screen when fully opened. If these leaks are accurate, the outer display will also feel much more like a standard smartphone rather than the narrow, tall screens we’ve seen on previous Z Fold models.

The cases also reveal a vertical, pill-shaped cutout for the camera housing in the top left corner. Interestingly, the design points toward a dual-camera setup on the back, rather than the triple-lens array found on the standard Fold series.

Powerful hardware under the hood

While the external design is the main talking point, the internal specs are equally impressive. Rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. It is also expected to be the first Samsung device to ship with One UI 9.0 (based on Android 17) right out of the box.

For photography, the most notable rumor is the inclusion of a 200MP main camera paired with an ultra-wide sensor. The device is losing the telephoto camera in a potential cost-cutting motion.

The summer launch event

The case listings also confirm some physical basics. A side-mounted power button that integrates a fingerprint scanner is visible. This is similar to what the company has done in other foldables in the Fold and Flip lineups.

We expect Samsung to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide during an Unpacked event, likely in July. It would arrive alongside the standard Fold 8 and Flip 8 during an Unpacked event, likely in July. While most details remain in the rumor category for now, the appearance of third-party cases is usually a strong indicator that the final design is already set.
