OPPO has just announced new mid-range variants of its popular smartphone lineup. The OPPO Reno16 and Reno16 Pro have been announced. These two phones come to life only 6 months after their predecessors.

The OPPO Reno16 series comes only 6 months after the Reno15 series

The OPPO Reno15 and Reno15 Pro were announced in November last year, while their global variants landed in January this year. Do note that the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro are also expected to reach global markets, but could be a bit different in terms of specs.

Having said that, these two phones look the same, but do differ in terms of size and specs. This time around, the base model is smaller than the ‘Pro’ variant. It was the other way around with last-gen models.

Both phones have a flat display, with a centered display camera hole up top and thin, uniform bezels around the display. Three cameras sit on the back, in the top-left corner. The backplate is flat, as is the frame on both phones.

The OPPO Reno16 is the smaller and less powerful of the two

The OPPO Reno16 includes a 6.32-inch 1.5K flat OLED panel with a resolution of 2640 x 1216 pixels. Its refresh rate is 120Hz, while the display supports high-frequency PWM dimming (3,840Hz).

MediaTek Dimensity 8550 SUPER fuels this phone; that’s a 4nm chip. It is paired with 12GB/16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage. The storage is not expandable, by the way.

A 6,700mAh battery is included here, and it supports 80W wired charging. Android 16 comes pre-installed, along with ColorOS 16. The phone is IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certified. It has stereo speakers and an in-display optical fingerprint scanner. Bluetooth 5.4 is on offer, along with Wi-Fi 6.

The phone measures 151.21 x 72.42 x 8.2-8.36mm and weighs 188-191 grams, depending on the variant. It comes in Black, Purple, and Heartbeat colors.

The OPPO Reno16 Pro has a much larger display than its predecessor

The OPPO Reno16 Pro, on the other hand, has a 6.78-inch 1.5K flat OLED display. That panel offers a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels, and it has an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). The peak brightness is 3,600 nits, while this phone supports high-frequency PWM dimming as well (2,160Hz).

MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s chip fuels the phone; that’s a 3nm processor. It is paired with 12GB/16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. The storage is not expandable.

Android 16 comes pre-installed, along with ColorOS 16. A 7,000mAh battery is used here, while 80W wired and 50W wireless charging are supported. Stereo speakers are included, while Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 are supported.
