The Xiaomi MIX 5 could make a comeback and bring some interesting features
Internal Xiaomi database entries have been spotted, and they reference a device codenamed ‘hongkong’. That device has a model number Q5, and the source says that a Q prefix could mean a 2026 release window.
The number ‘5’ from the model number aligns with the MIX branding. Previous devices in the series followed a similar naming pattern, E5 and E5G for MIX 3 and MIX 3 5G, and K8 for MIX 4.
If this phone ends up seeing the light of day this year, it could end up sporting Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. An under-display camera was rumored in the past, which is unsurprising because Xiaomi loves to experiment with this smartphone series. The Xiaomi MIX 4 had an under-display camera.
Will Xiaomi’s magnetic lens system be included?
Now, the big question is… will this be the smartphone series to debut Xiaomi’s magnetic lens camera system? The one that the company showed off last year. It was recently reported that the magnetic lens went into mass production.
That would be a real shocker if it happens, and it would certainly attract a lot of attention towards Xiaomi. It’s a very interesting system that Xiaomi debuted, which allows you to magnetically connect a camera lens to the phone.
While this smartphone will almost certainly arrive to China first, reports are claiming that it won’t stay exclusive to Xiaomi’s homeland. A global launch is expected. We’re expecting to see more information about it in the near future, at this point we’re guessing quite a bit.
