The Google Health app is starting to receive its version 5.02 update, and with that there are a variety of features being reintroduced after Google took them away earlier this year. Google Health, as you might remember, was once called the Fitbit app. During that long-time tenure, users grew to love the Fitbit app for all its useful assistance, quirks, and many awesome features. Google recently phased out all references of the Fitbit name on Pixel Watch devices, following the main app’s name change.
The only downside to the change is that some of the Fitbit features were removed down the road. This did not make users happy, as they were genuinely well-liked features. Today’s update also brings in additional features that aren’t specific to to the old Fitbit app, and quite a few bug fixes and improvements as well. The update should be rolling out to users starting today. It won’t necessarily reach all users today, but a good portion of them will likely see the update before the day’s end. Most of these changes will be available across the Android and iOS apps. Some, however, will be exclusive to the Android app version.
Google Health version 5.02 brings back the Hourly Activity feature
It’s not clear exactly why this was removed in the first place, because it seems like a lot of users were engaging with it and have been for quite some time. Regardless of the reason for its removal, it’s back. Google confirms that users can now check on their hourly activity details again. To see these, you can go to the Today tab or the Health tab. On the Today tab you can tap the Pencil icon to adjust things, or you can use the Customize button on the Health tab to do the same.
Speaking of the Health tab, Google says it has made things easier to re-order. Specifically, re-ordering the key metrics can be drag and dropped to re-arrange them in the order that suits you best. Adding a little personalization to the setup. The same thing can be done for the Metrics on the Today tab.
In addition to these changes and improvements, Google added several other fixes. It also made various sleep update like moving the Restlessness bar closer to your sleep gauge graph. You can read the full changes with this update in Google’s official post.
