There’s a good chance you know that both Samsung and Apple will launch their wide foldable phones in the coming months. Well, OPPO will join them, and some new information surfaced about that device.
OPPO’s wide foldable will ditch a circular camera module for a horizontally aligned setup
The device in question is the OPPO Find N7 Wide, though the name has not been confirmed. Either way, according to information provided by Smart Pikachu, a tipster, the phone is coming, and it will look a bit different than we’re used to from OPPO.
He says that the phone will feature a crease-free display, so it’ll probably use the same tech as the OPPO Find N6, which still has the most subtle crease on the market. The tipster also said that the phone will feature new, horizontally-aligned rear camera module. So a circular module will not be used, as it was on the Find N5 and Find N6.
What the tipster did not say is whether we’re getting two book-style foldables from OPPO or one. The OPPO Find N5 and Find N6 has a near 1:1 display aspect ratio, as did other book-style foldables thus far.
OPPO could continue down that road, just like Samsung, and release the OPPO Find N7, and in addition to that phone launch, the wider foldable, the so-called OPPO Find N7 Wide. We’ll have to wait and see, as nothing has been confirmed.
Wide book-style foldables make more sense than the current ones we have
As someone who used the OPPO Find N and Find N2, which were wider book-style foldables, I simply cannot wait for OPPO’s new wide foldable. The tech has come a long way since then, and the OPPO Find N7 Wide could be just what I was waiting for.
I simply love using foldables in general, well, book-style foldables, and the OPPO Find N6 is great. However, the wider foldable will be outstanding for horizontal video watching, due to its horizontal aspect ratio when unfolded. It will also be a better option for running apps side-by-side, so multitasking should be even better.
That’s not all, though. You can always rotate the phone and use it for Instagram or TikTok, for example. There are just so many benefits to wide foldables that I’m looking forward to.
