Samsung has already made the long-awaited Galaxy S26 series official. So, tech fans are turning their attention to the firm’s next move in the mid-range market. Recent data from the European Union’s energy label database (EPREL) has revealed significant upgrades in terms of battery endurance and device durability for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57.
Samsung Galaxy A37 and A57 to get big battery endurance upgrade
Battery life is often the deciding factor for mid-range buyers, and the new listings are promising. Both the Galaxy A37 and A57 have secured an “A” rating for energy efficiency. According to the data highlighted by NieuweMobiel, the Galaxy A37 could reach up to 53 hours on a single charge. Meanwhile, the A57 follows closely with 52 hours.
For context, their predecessors, the A36 and A56, offered around 41 and 44 hours, respectively. As we can see, this represents a significant jump in terms of endurance. Interestingly, the battery longevity is rated at 1,200 charge cycles. This number looks lower than last year’s 2,000 cycles. However, some experts believe this change is due to new EU testing regulations rather than a decline in current battery quality.
IP68 rating: premium durability to the Galaxy A37 and A57
Perhaps the most welcome change is the inclusion of an IP68 rating. For years, the Galaxy A series hovered at IP67. This provides good protection but fell just short of the flagship standard. Moving to IP68 means these phones can now handle being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.
The build quality also shows some interesting differences between the two models. While both handle daily wear well, the Galaxy A57 earned a higher “A” rating for drop resistance, whereas the Galaxy A37 secured a “B.” This might suggest that the A57 features slightly more reinforced materials or a different grade of glass.
Potentially launching in March
Under the hood, rumors suggest we will see the new Exynos 1680 and 1480 chipsets. Both handsets would boast 120Hz AMOLED displays. For now, pricing remains a topic of speculation. However, the sudden appearance of these energy labels usually indicates that an official announcement is imminent. It will likely happen sometime in mid-March.
